Position taxonomy

Screen on function and flowsheet ownership.

Titles vary by country. A production supervisor in one mill is a head miller in another. A chief miller on 50 TPD is not automatically a head miller on 500 TPD. Wheat reception to packing — plus the grain roles that serve a mill.

Flowsheet command

Head miller & shift miller

The scarce seat worldwide. Flowsheet, roll settings, ER, ash and the night crew. Night-shift language is the gate — not the title on the CV.

  • Head miller / chief miller
  • Shift miller / senior miller
  • Assistant miller
  • Trainee miller (NABIM or equivalent in progress)
  • Night-shift in command

Intake to pack-out

Plant & mill leadership

Plant managers and mill managers who own P&L or ER, yield and cost per tonne — already run a mill, not a generic factory.

  • Plant / site manager
  • Mill manager / production manager
  • Regional / multi-site milling
  • Director of milling

Grain to first break

Wheat intake, cleaning & temper

Buyers and operators who serve a mill: protein, hardness, unmillable, moisture, temper time. Conditioning is under-screened worldwide and high leverage.

  • Wheat / grain buyer
  • Intake / silo supervisor
  • Cleaning plant operator
  • Conditioning / temper operator
  • Wheat mix miller

Release authority

Quality, lab & test bakery

People who read Farinograph, Alveograph, FN and SD as milling outputs — not bakery recipes. Test bakers who can map a loaf fault back to the flowsheet.

  • Quality / food safety manager
  • QA supervisor
  • Laboratory technician
  • Test baker / bake lab
  • Technical services miller

Specification, not slogans

Flour sales & applications

Sales who can talk ash, colour L*, water absorption and PSD without over-promising. Technical sales who close complaints on milling outputs.

  • Key account / flour sales
  • Technical sales / applications
  • Export flour sales
  • NPD miller

Inside a flour mill only

Packing, warehouse & load-out

Packing and bulk inside a flour mill is in scope. Packing in a biscuit plant is not. Usually local; export mills value load-out.

  • Warehouse / packing manager
  • Packing supervisor
  • Bulk flour load-out
  • Logistics / tanker / container

The plant behind the flour

Millwrights, projects & control

Roll changes, sifter boxes, mill control, flowsheet change. Dust and ATEX rules are local. Roll-floor time must be real.

  • Maintenance manager — mill
  • Millwright / fitter
  • Electrician / instrumentation
  • Process / project engineer

The global product

Commissioning & relief

Start-up, guarantee runs, section rebuild, shutdown cover. Named millers booked weeks ahead — not scraped the night before. OEMs and mills both use this bench.

  • Commissioning miller
  • Relief / cover miller
  • OEM start-up miller
  • New-mill training miller

If they cannot discuss Tm, break release, clothing μm and ash by stream without notes, they are not a miller in any country.

Packing inside a flour mill is in scope. A biscuit plant in another country is not. Feed time is labelled. Stone mill is labelled. We do not sell them as roller-mill command.
